A short note and about Casaboontha.net

E-mail Print PDF

As some of you may have heard, in early november a number of KISS fan based websites have been contacted by lawyers employed by KISS.

In light of that I have the follwoing statement, which has always been my set of rules anyway:

This site does not promote or sell any bootlegged material. The only purpose is to share my personal creations with fellow KISS fans to enhance their own collection. If anything is for (re-)sale on this site it will always be an official KISS product, not any bootlegged material like t-shirts, audio recordings etc...
My intentions have been and will be just to celebrate the band that I love in all it's incarnations and to respect the owners of their resepective works.... one thing is ofcourse that I am a nut for audio recordings and video material that has not been released officially (yet).
If any other site wants to put a link on his/her site to my site, just request 'permission' so that I can assess if such a link might compromise my intentions.

The last years I have seen plenty of times that people sell KISS audio and video recordings on websites, ebay, record fairs and even retail stores that make use of covers I created. I will and cannot take any responsibility from damages or copyright infringement from these action!

The downtime of this site had nothing to do with that but was a technical issue that has been solved. Continue to enjoy the site and it's contents!

Takce care,
Casa.

A new year

A new year brings new elan and new opportunities. 2012  has been great to KISS fans worldwide, with a great tour and wonderful new releases.

Destroyer [Resurrected], Monster and The Casablanca Singles Collection all bring something extra. All released in multiple formats (CD, Vinyl, Digital Download) and with that brings KISS back home with their record company Universal. Can't wait to see what lies ahead for us. Will we get more archive releases that will bring different mixes or even remixes and remasters to the market? What are we hoping for? Will the saturated bootleg market bring some nice gems to the market instead of re-releasing old bootlegs? We will have to wait and see what 2013 brings us, at least we will get KISS in Australia and Europe for the Monster Tour and at the end of 2012 we saw the first bootleg release form the South American Monster Tour.

With that  I promise to bring some new covers to the site as well, it seems that I have a little more time to devote to the site again and I hope that one of my contributors (red. Byron you are the best!) will be able to do some of his great reviews in 2013.

All that rests me is to wish everybody a great 2013 with lots of Rock 'N roll and fun!

Take care,
Casa.

History of Casaboontha

A short and quick history about Casaboontha.net

Casaboontha.net was established in March 2001 as means to share and trade among the KISS fan?community.

It al started out in the 80's when I designed cassette and video covers the old-fashioned way. Making photo copies of pictures and logo's and cutting and pasting them together. In the mid-90's when digital dtp software became more available, and I got a hold of a scanner and a decent printer I started doing these digital. The next step in trading came among us with the introduction of the CD Burner.

With CD's trading live shows became more popular than ever. The intrnet helped to connect fans worldwide and build trading communities. Hopping on that bandwagon and with broadband becoming available I decided to put the first version of my site online with about 30 covers and a tradelist.

With that interest grew, as did my CD collection and ofcourse with that also my covers collection. Trading and cover requests became a daily practice in 2002 and 2003, it helped that the DVD Burner was widely available from then on.

At that point I decided it was time to have my own domain and to make sure I had plenty of space online to store the then 250+ covers collection. Today more than 500 covers are avialable. Most of them KISS and some of other bands like Cheap Trick, Mötley Crüe and Van Halen. Although the pace of creating covers is not that high anymore I try to achieve the best possible since I create them for my own collection first.

If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

Take care,
Casa.
